Meadowlark holds a vespers program most Sunday nights with speakers and hymn singing, using Cokesbury’s Worship Hymnal, with 296 hymns, has an index with authors, classifications. We are unable to find in it “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” by Julia Ward Howe.

• In the writer’s group we were surprised. “Above named defendant arrested on the complaint of E.V. Hoffman charging that on the 24th day of Jan. A.D., 1901...said defendant Carrie Nation, Marc Miller, John Schilling...Priscilla Bitner, etc. did then and there disturb the peace...each one for themselves plead not guilty... after hearing all the allegations and testimony the court finds the Defendants Carrie Nation not guilty as charged...The five females listening to our eloquent recondition of the charges cheered and clapped! Dick Taylor would be pleased.
