First of all, before I begin, I would just like to warn readers that this may be a very hard and difficult topic to talk about. However, that is all the more reason for me to want to write about it. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental illness, please reach out to friends and family or find the support that you need. If you or someone you know is considering suicide, please call 1-800-273-8255 (the National Suicide Hotline) or reach out and get help. It truly does get better.

In the past week alone, two famous celebrities committed suicide. Designer Kate Spade, founder and owner of the brand Kate Spade New York, and award winning host of CNN’s “Parts Unknown” Anthony Bourdain were both found dead last week because of suicide. Throughout history, more and more celebrities commit suicide with each decade. Famous celebrities like Vincent Van Gogh, Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf, Marilyn Monroe, Kurt Cobain, and Robin Williams have all committed suicide. The reasons range from financial stress, to hatred of the media, or anxiety and depression.
