Chapman Artist makes his mark on the State House
You may have seen artist William Counter’s work around the city of Abilene where several murals by the Chapman-based artist are on prominent display. Now his art will hang on the walls of the statehouse. Counter’s work Kansas LP hangs in a place of honor between the offices of Senators Randall Hardy and Elaine Bowers.
Counter, a working artist with a studio outside of Chapman, created the mixed media piece by combining the covers from an album by the band Kansas with a second older album cover he had discovered while envisioning the work. The idea for Kansas LP had been kicking around in the artist’s head for years, it was simply a matter of finding the right pieces and motivation to finally complete the project.
